The team at Samsung Electronics announced earlier this year that they would be extending their Galaxy Tab 3 line-up with the inclusion of 8-inch and 10.1-inch models. These will both be offered alongside the original line-up, which was only comprised of a 7-inch model. According to reports, Samsung will begin shipping their new Galaxy Tab 3 around the world this month.
The 8-inch model (which is a new addition to the Galaxy Tab family) has a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It features a 5-megapixel camera on the back of the tablet and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. Users will have the choice of either 16GB or 32GB of integrated storage, whilst all tablets will come with 1.5GB of RAM.
The 10.1-inch model (which is not a new addition to the family) possesses the same screen resolution (1280 x 800 pixels) and has the same integrated storage on offer (16GB or 32GB). The available RAM, on the other hand, is 1GB and the dual-core processor is slightly faster at 1.6GHz. It also features a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front, whilst the one on the back is only 3-megapixels.
Both of these new models will run on Android 4.2, will include a microSD card slot to expand the tablet’s storage capacity and will offer support for 6 LTE bands (which will allow users to access networks across Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and South America). Users will also have the option of investing in Wi-Fi versions if they desire.
Samsung are yet to announce whether they will also release versions of their Galaxy Tab 3 that support the 700MHz LTE band that is used widely across the US, but with this being such a popular market for these devices it is likely that it is on the cards. They are also yet to announce how much the tablets will cost, but it is expected that users won’t have to wait too long to find out.
