The team at Samsung has just announced the launch of three new devices that are part of their ATIV line of products – the ATIV Tab 3, the ATIV Book 9 Plus, and the ATIV Q. Each of these devices supports software that Samsung has called SideSync, which allows users to switch from Windows 8 to an Android-based Samsung smartphone at the click of a button; you can use the PC keyboard to send messages from your mobile, for example.
This is a hybrid tablet device that runs both Windows and Android side-by-side and is also able to act as both a normal tablet and an Ultrabook. It actually has four different modes – a standard laptop with full keyboard access, a standard tablet, a raised tablet or a standing tablet. The 13.3inch screen runs at 3200 x 1800 resolution, it has 4GB of RAM, up to 9 hours battery life, USB 3.0 and 2.0 slots, and runs Intel’s new Haswell CPU.
This is known as being the world’s thinnest Windows tablet at only 8.2mm thick and shares many design elements with the Samsung Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets. The 10.1inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768, it has 2GB of RAM, up to 10 hours of battery life, 64GB of onboard flash storage, and a microSD slot; its specifications are mostly identical to standard Android-based tablets, except that it runs Windows 8.
This is a laptop that has been based on the Series 9 PC; unlike the other ATIV devices, however, it is only able to run Windows 8 and not Android. The 13.3inch screen has a resolution of 3200 x 1800, it has 8GB of RAM, up to 12 hours of battery life, 256GB of storage space, and runs one of Intel’s newest Haswell processors. Samsung have also released an ATIV Book 9 Lite version, which runs on much lower specifications.
