Russian Billionaire Wants To Create Substance-Independent Mind By 2045

Need not to be surprised if you found Cyborg (a creature partly human and partly machine) roaming around in the coming years. Yes! To everybody’s surprise this could soon be true as the Russian Billionaire, Dmistry Itskov is planning to turn his dream creating the sci-fi trope in to reality. The Russian billionaire, Dmistry Itskov is very serious about his project of making human immortals by merging them with machines. He has set up a deadline of 2045 for substance-independent minds to receive artificial bodies. This process is referred as Singularity by various scientists.

The main goal behind the making of human-immortals project is to be able to transfer a person’s mind or consciousness from a living brain into a machine with that person’s personality and memories intact. Freed of physical form, the person would exist in a network similar to the Internet and be able to travel at the speed of light all over the planet, or even into space. His goal is nothing short of transforming humanity into something new and immortal. “We believe that it is possible and necessary to eliminate aging and even death, and to overcome the fundamental limits of the physical and mental capabilities currently set by the restrictions of the physical body,” the project website says.

The entire project of making substance-independent minds is categorized in to for main phases. The first phase is known as Avatar A which involves a person controlling a robotic human replica via a brain-machine interface (BMI), a technology that already exists today. The deadline for the completion of this phase is set for 2020. The second phase is known as Avatar B which is set to be completed till 2025. This phase involves transplanting a human brain into an artificial body “at the end of one’s life”.

After the completion of the Avatar B, the third phase known as Avatar C will be initiated. This phase involves a human-machine brain transplant, only this time with all personality intact. The deadline for the completion of this phase is set for 2035. The final phase of this detailed project is known as Avatar D which is set to be completed by 2045. This phase will finally create a human-like Avatar. Itskov believes that by 2045, the Initiative will have learned enough about the human mind to free it completely from physical form. From the Internet-like hive mind, individual personalities could manifest themselves as holograms when they need to interact with their environment.
